What Are You Looking for in a Laptop?
When considering your next laptop, there are aspects to consider. Laptops vary considerably in size, weight, sturdiness, battery time and more. The model that works best for you may not be the right one for someone else.
A business person working in the evenings from home and during the day from the office, whose top priority is perfect sync between his computers and cellphone, may opt for a different model than that of the traveler looking for an easy connection from international branches of fast food chain stores.
Which one works best for you? If you're about to invest several hundreds of dollars or more in your next hi-tech laptop, you will have to do some thorough research. Hopefully, this hub will help you by showcasing the two most popular laptops on the market right now.
The list is based on Amazon's list of top selling laptops. With their huge sales span, it's a great way to see what's hot and what not, in the laptops of October 2008.
The Acer Aspire One
It's easy to see why the Acer Aspire comes at the top of the list. In white, black or blue, this ultra sleek laptop has a modern look that simply radiates one message: I mean business. Nothing fancy here, just sheer professionality. At the same time, it is quite a compact little machine, weighing only 2 lbs (!).
Don't be fooled by the size - it holds the most advanced Intel chip available: the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor. Inside this wonder box there is also a whole GB of RAM memory (which you can expand to 1.5 GB later on) and a whopping 160 GB hard disk drive (at 5400 RPM! What more can you ask for?
The battery adds to the basic weight, but it is extra durable and lasts for more than five hours of work. Enough for plenty of work and play while away from the power grid.
This modern wonder also comes equipped with everything you can think of, from camera to an internet connection (integrated 54g wireless LAN) that lets you instantly connect to local networks and an internet connection where available. It even arrives pre-installed with Windows and a variety of utilities, including a web browser, an email client and even Windows messenger, so you just flap it open and start using it.
Easy connections on this gadget. It'll easily eat up SD cards or MMCs, memory sticks or XD picture cards. Of course, you have the constant internet connection (where available) - with Acer's SignalUp technology for enhanced antenna efficiency.
All of that in an amazingly compact price - no wonder this one is so popular. Check out the user reviews at amazon - pretty amazing stuff there.
The Apple MacBook
The Apple MacBook comes second on Amazon's list of bestselling laptops. In fact, both the Acer Aspire and the Apple MacBook come in several versions that pretty much dominate the list and for good reason too.
The Apple MacBook is much more expensive (we're talking about over than three times more expensive than the Acer), yet for the Mac fans, it is THE ultimate in laptop technology. So, if you're an Apple fan, this is would probably be your choice, and you're probably used to the price range by now...
Of course, part of the difference in price stems from the different size. The Apple MacBook is a handsome 15.4 inch laptop. That's enough of a screen to really enjoy your visuals, be them a computer game, a movie or, ummm, an excel sheet. The different size effects the weight as well, of course, with this one weighing a fair 5.4 pounds.
The inside of this sexy gadget include the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with improved energy efficiency. You also have a huge 2GB RAM memory and a 200 GB hard drive (5400 RPM). Quite a killer machine here, that will go easily and smoothly through your applications.
Connectivity comes high on the list of the MacBook's features, with a strong internet connection via the built-in 802.11n wireless networking ability. It also comes with built-in blue tooth features, for simple and easy syncing with your mobile phone or other instruments.
As can be expected from Apple, this baby really excells when it comes to graphic display. Not only does it have a fairly large screen, it also boasts a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, along with an antiglare widescreen display all backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs). For graphic designers, this one is a great working tool.
This laptop has many more features, and the more technically oriented buyers will want to go through the product description in great detail. And don't forget to check out the raving reviews by Apple fans, all on its Amazon page:
So, which is the perfect laptop for you? Don't ask me - I just tried to whet your apetite by describing the best sellers. These two are quite different, both in price range and in size and abilities. Not to mention that one is a Mac and one a Windows based computer.
But hopefully, if you're in the mood, you may want to check out the rest of the available laptops at Amazon. It's one of those products that begs to be ordered online, and Amazon is one store I can highly recommend when it comes to good reliable service and competitive pricing. And I'll leave you here with a few more laptop models:

Hey great hub! Acer Aspire looks awesome, but I would prefer The Apple MacBook because of it powerful specs. Just a thought! ;)
Well, I've had the Acer One for about 2 months now, and have come to use it far more than either the desktop or the full sized laptop. In fact, I found myself one day walking to the mailbox with it still on the palm of my hand. It maintains it's wireless connection easily to the full 140' to the mailbox, and is handy enough to practically forget that you have it with you. It is one fantastic little machine.

I just brought home a blue Acer Aspire One last night, and already love it. It has a crystal clear display that makes it easy to view even with it's small size, quite quick, and has more than enough storage space for anything I may end up using it for. The one and only drawback I see isn't even an issue, just something I noticed. The Wireless Internet on the Aspire One seems to be just a slight bit slower than by full sized Toshiba Laptop. But, like I said, not an issue. I'm very, very happy with it, thank you.
